Blogging Resolutions
First post of 2009, and it took me 6 days into the year to get to it. I’ve been blogging since June now and based on my stats I have come up with 118 posts, 864 comments, 3,394 spam and 74,592 views since I installed WP_Stats in August. I found a sudden burst of new visitors in October, thanks to a link on the front page of Tankspot, run by the most awesome Ciderhelm. If you haven’t checked out Project Marmot yet, you’re missing an awesome thing, especially casual raiders just getting their foot in the door. Thanks to all my visitors and regular commenters, you keep me going. 256 subscribers according to Feedburner, oh my!
That said, there’s room for tons more improvement. Here are my blogging resolutions for 2009:
- Consistently post twice a week, Monday and Thursday in the best case
- Keep Addon corner going, UI tweaking is a favorite pastime of mine
- As per request, write a ‘How to DPS as prot warrior when you are not the tank of the group’ review
- Write more about tanking by tanking more often again in-game
- As content gets added, provide more gear lists (and not just because the WoW masses love them)
- Get into raiding again and share all the triumphs and failures
As today is Tuesday, I am already failing one of my resolutions, but so be it. I will be back this week with one of those ever so super-popular gear postings, top 3 in all slots from heroics and emblem gear. Consider it part 2 of my 3-part gear series for WotLK. The last post will cover raid drops.
I hope to start raiding in the first week of February, as a birthday present to myself? Maybe.
I actually have no clue if I’ll be tanking or healing. I have recently started heroics, but only as healer (zomg, golden chains of healing are incredible, aren’t they?). Hopefully Kadomi will get some spotlight time soon, because I know I still got it. I just do. And it’d be a shame to waste it on soloing 3-man quests in Icecrown, and grinding Sons of Hodir and Oracles rep to Revered. Wish me luck for my Mysterious Egg!

I’ve had a good time reading your posts for the last several months. Thanks for blogging!

That’s golden chains of SEXY healing, to quote the ‘tox. But yes, Chain Heal is sooo op and fun (especially if you have the glyph that lets it hop to another person).

I am currently running with LHW, Earthliving and Water Mastery for 5-mans. Once she dips into the wonderful world of raid healing, she’ll get the CH glyph.

Addon Corner might be my favorite part of your posts, but I love to read it all. Whenever you have time, we’ll be here to read.

Looks like Vene has a thread on “Vene’s Quick and Dirty Pre-Naxx Prot DPS Guide ” topic over at Tankspot:
http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f97/42598-vene-s-quick-dirty-pre-naxx-prot-dps-guide.html
I’m sure there are a variety of approaches to covering this topic so I’ll be interested in your thoughts on the topic. I was a fan of “DPS-Prot” using the fury gear + dual wield + devastate method prior to the 3.0.2 love so I’m going to experiment with Vene’s method with a swap of 2 points from Imp HS to Imp Rend in the Arms tree. Our core raid group includes a surplus of Tanks and being able to jump into a melee DPS role with a quick gear change as needed would be very convenient.

I’ve been reading since that post on TankSpot and I like hearing about your exploits in WoW! I’m happy to see your still going (healing or not ;-D)
Keep up the good work

Oh you poor ex-tank, please get back into tanking again… Heal Like A Girl just doesnt have the same ring.
Just spend >12,000g making the best tanking trinket in the game for druids… and what was I rewarded with? A night of zzzzz dps in 25 man naxx. Would rather be fishing
So I feel for ya. Tanking is my therapy, cant live without it.

No worries, the focus of this blog won’t change. I might mention shaman stuff once in a while, but you guys love tanking, and so do I.
What trinket is that that you made?

Oh good yeah this whole tanking thing… now that I’ve maxed the druid outside of 25 mans, I’m back to levelling my prot warrior. What a blast! Did my first ever instance last night in UK. OMG what a lot of buttons to press, and half of them are off the GCD; the other half are event reactive
The trinket I referred to is Darkmoon Card: Greatness which comes in 4 flavors – not sure how cool it is for warriors atm, but its craftable though inscription, or purchasable if you have deep pockets (I did a combo)
